Editorial policy

The rules we hold ourselves to on every review, comparison, guide and news story.

1. Hands-on testing

We do not review tools from press releases or feature lists. Every rated tool is used by our team for real tasks before we publish. Where a tool has a free tier and a paid tier, we test both when possible and say which tier a verdict applies to.

2. Scoring

Each review scores the tool from 1 to 5 across five criteria, weighted equally:

  • Output quality: accuracy, depth and usefulness of what the tool produces.
  • Ease of use: interface, onboarding, learning curve.
  • Speed and reliability: latency, uptime, consistency across runs.
  • Pricing and value: what you get for the money versus alternatives.
  • Privacy and trust: data retention, training opt-outs, transparency.

3. Affiliate links

Some links on PromptWises are affiliate links. If you buy through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate relationships are never a factor in ratings, rankings or which tools we cover. We regularly recommend tools that pay us nothing.

4. No paid reviews

We do not accept payment, free subscriptions in exchange for coverage, or any form of sponsored review. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labeled as such.

5. Use of AI in our work

We use AI tools in our editorial process for research, drafting and editing, because that is the subject we cover. Every published article is reviewed for accuracy, and every rating reflects our own testing and judgment.

6. Updates and corrections

Each article shows a published date and, where relevant, an updated date. When we correct a factual error, we note it in the article. To report an error, email hello@promptwises.com.
