What is Beautiful.ai?
Beautiful.ai is presentation software with design rules built in. Instead of giving you a blank canvas, it gives you Smart Slides: layouts that rearrange themselves as you add a bullet, a chart or an image, so the slide stays aligned and readable. On top of that it adds AI generation. You describe the presentation or paste an outline, review a slide-by-slide outline, pick a theme, and it builds the deck.
The product runs in the browser at beautiful.ai, with a PowerPoint Add-In, an Offline Player desktop app for presenting without a connection, and exports to PowerPoint, Google Slides and PDF. Teams get a shared slide library, locked themes, version control and analytics on who viewed what.
The problem it solves is the one most people have with slides: they know what to say but their decks look uneven, and fixing alignment and spacing eats the time they should spend on the message. Beautiful.ai removes that work by refusing to let a slide look bad.
Who it is for
- Sales teams and account managers who build proposals and pitch decks every week and need them on-brand without a designer’s help.
- Consultants and agencies producing client-facing decks where visual consistency is part of the service.
- Founders making investor and board decks that must look polished with minimal effort.
- Managers and analysts presenting reports, with charts that can link to live spreadsheet data.
- Marketing and enablement teams that maintain a library of approved slides for the rest of the company to reuse.
Beautiful.ai is not the right tool if you need free-form layouts, elaborate animations, or a deck you will edit heavily in PowerPoint afterwards. It is also a poor fit for one-off users, since there is no free plan. If you mostly make documents and web pages rather than slides, Gamma is the better choice.
Key features
- Create with AI. Start from a typed or spoken prompt, a pasted outline, or attached documents, PDFs and links. Beautiful.ai produces a text-only outline you edit first, then generates designed slides from it.
- Slide AI. A per-slide panel that shows alternative Smart Slide layouts for the same content, regenerates text or images independently, preserves exact text when you ask it to, and can ground a single slide in an attached file or a web search.
- Smart Slides. More than 300 layouts for data, comparisons, timelines, quotes, image grids and more. Add or remove content and the layout re-flows. Any Smart Slide can be converted to a Classic Slide for manual control.
- Themes and brand control. Save brand colours, fonts, logos, icons and footers as a theme and apply it to every deck. Team plans lock themes so nobody drifts off-brand.
- Data-linked charts. Charts, graphs, timelines and diagrams that can link to a spreadsheet and update when the data changes.
- Images, icons and video. A built-in stock library, AI image generation with a consistent style setting, and embedded video and audio.
- Narration and animation. Record or upload voice-over per slide, add presenter notes, and use built-in slide animations (which only play inside Beautiful.ai).
- Sharing and analytics. Protected share links with view or edit permissions, viewer analytics showing views and slide engagement, and alerts.
- Team workflows. Real-time collaboration, a shared slide and template library, shared assets, version control, locked slides, and on Enterprise, SSO, SCIM provisioning, audit logs and brand guardrails.
- Export and import. Editable PowerPoint, PowerPoint as images, Google Slides, PDF, print, and an Offline Player package; PowerPoint import for existing decks.
Pricing
Beautiful.ai has no free plan. At the time of writing there are three plans plus a single-presentation option, with a 14-day trial of Pro or Team that requires a card and converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled. Prices below are from the pricing page; monthly billing for Pro is not shown separately, so check the page if you need it.
| Plan | Price | Members | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pro | $14.50 per month billed yearly | 1 | Unlimited AI generation, AI images and writing, 300+ Smart Slides, custom theme builder, data visualisations, viewer analytics, editable PowerPoint and Google Slides export |
| Team | $40 per user per month billed yearly ($50 billed monthly) | 2 to 20 | Everything in Pro plus real-time collaboration, shared slide and template library, locked themes and slides, version control, live data linking, engagement analytics, presentations in 100+ languages |
| Enterprise | Custom | Unlimited | Everything in Team plus SSO, SCIM, advanced permissions, audit logs, brand guardrails, dedicated onboarding and priority support |
| Single presentation | $45 billed monthly | 1 | Pro features for a one-off project; cancel any time |
Annual plans can be partially refunded within 24 hours of purchase; monthly plans are non-refundable. Students with a valid .edu address get a year free. The pricing page also mentions an SMB flat-rate option for small teams without listing a price, so ask sales if you are between Pro and Team.
How to use Beautiful.ai: step-by-step
1. Start the trial and set your brand
- Go to beautiful.ai, click Start a free trial, and choose Pro or Team. Enter a card; set a reminder for day 13 if you are only evaluating.
- Before making any deck, open the theme settings and create a custom theme: upload your logo, set brand colours and fonts, and add a footer. Everything you generate afterwards inherits it, which saves re-styling later.
2. Generate a deck with Create with AI
- From the My Presentations tab, click Create with AI in the upper right.
- Describe the presentation. You can type or paste a prompt, use the microphone, or click the plus (+) icon to attach documents, PDFs or links. A detailed input works far better than a one-liner. For example:
A 10-slide proposal for a mid-size retailer to adopt our inventory software.
Audience: COO and finance director, 20 minutes.
Slides: problem (stock-outs cost), our approach, three customer results with numbers,
implementation plan in 3 phases, pricing summary, next steps.
Tone: direct, no jargon. Use the attached case study PDF for the numbers.
- Submit. Beautiful.ai shows a slide-by-slide outline in plain text. This is where to do most of your thinking: edit titles and copy, reorder or delete slides, add a section or a conclusion, and paste extra content into specific slides. You can also type requests into the AI chat panel, such as “Add an about-us slide after slide 2” or “Delete slides 4, 6 and 9”.
- Set visual preferences: pick a theme, choose how images are sourced (AI-generated, stock, web or none), set a consistent AI image style, and choose the presentation language.
- Click Generate Presentation. The designed deck opens in the editor after a short wait.
3. Refine individual slides with Slide AI
- Select a slide and open the Slide AI panel. It shows alternative Smart Slide layouts for the same content; click one to switch structure without retyping.
- Click Generate Ideas to get new versions. Choose Use Original Prompt to go back toward the outline’s intent, or Use Current Slide to build on what is already there.
- In the Options panel, set the Slide Type (comparison, chart, timeline, about us, or automatic), tick Preserve Exact Text to change only the layout, Regenerate Image to replace the picture without touching the words, and Use Presentation Context so the slide fits the rest of the deck. Attach a file or enable web search when a slide needs real data.
4. Edit content by hand
- Click any text to edit it. Smart Slides re-flow as you type, so you cannot overflow the slide.
- Use Add Slide to insert a Smart Slide from the gallery, or My Slides to pull from your saved library.
- Add charts from the data slides and paste or link data; link a spreadsheet when numbers will change.
- Replace generated images with your own or stock images from the media panel. Delete decorative images that add nothing.
- If a slide needs manual placement, open its menu and convert it to a Classic Slide. This removes the auto-layout for that slide only.
5. Add notes, narration and animation
Open the notes panel under the slide to add presenter notes, which also export to PowerPoint. Record or upload a voice-over per slide if the deck will be viewed asynchronously. Animations are set per slide (auto or on-click) and play only when presenting inside Beautiful.ai or the Offline Player.
6. Share, present or export
- Share creates a link with view or edit rights; analytics show who opened it and which slides they spent time on.
- Present from the editor, or export for the Offline Player (a ZIP you do not unzip) to present without internet and keep animations.
- To export, click the Presentation drop-down in the top left, then Export Presentation, choose Editable PowerPoint, PowerPoint (images), Google Slides or PDF, tick Include skipped slides in export if needed, and click Export. For editable PowerPoint, click Download Fonts and install them first or the layout will shift. To export one slide, select Manage, then Export Slide, then Export Slide to PPT.
7. Turn the result into a template
Once a deck is right, save slides to the shared library (Team plans) or duplicate the presentation as a starting point. Pair it with a locked theme so every future deck starts on-brand.
Tips to get better results
- Write the outline before the prompt. Pasting a ten-line outline into Create with AI produces a deck about your content rather than a generic one.
- Attach the source document. A case study, a report or a spreadsheet grounds the numbers and reduces invented text.
- Spend your time at the outline stage. Changing structure there is free and instant; changing it after generation means regenerating slides.
- Choose the image source deliberately. “No images” plus your own photos usually looks more credible than AI-generated art in a business deck.
- Use Preserve Exact Text when iterating. It stops Slide AI rewriting copy you have already approved.
- Keep one message per slide. Smart Slides reward short text and one chart or visual; long paragraphs get squeezed.
- Export early as a test. Open the editable PowerPoint once with your fonts installed to see what shifts before a deadline.
- Build a slide library. Approved slides for pricing, team, and case studies save the most time over a year.
Limitations and common problems
- No free plan and an auto-charging trial. Cancel from Billing in your Profile before day 14 if you do not want to pay.
- Grid-bound design. You cannot drag elements anywhere on a Smart Slide. Convert to a Classic Slide, or accept the constraint, which is the point of the product.
- Export fidelity. Animations and audio are lost in every export format, and fonts substitute if not installed. Google Slides export also drops embedded video. Test before sending.
- Pro is single-user. Collaboration, version control and a shared library need Team at a much higher per-seat price.
- Generated content is plausible, not verified. Numbers and claims in generated slides must be checked, the same as with any AI writer.
- Browser dependency. The editor is online-only; use the Offline Player or a PDF when connectivity is uncertain.
- Pricing page inconsistencies. The Team card says it includes three users while the text describes per-user pricing from two to twenty; confirm with sales before buying for a team.
Alternatives
- Gamma - faster from prompt to draft and better for documents and web pages, with card-based layouts instead of fixed slides. Read our Gamma guide.
- Canva - broader design tool with AI slides; better if you also make social graphics and already pay for it.
- Pitch - collaborative presentation software with templates and analytics, popular with startups.
- Microsoft Copilot in PowerPoint - generates and reformats decks inside PowerPoint for Microsoft 365 organisations that must stay in native files.
- Google Slides with Gemini - the equivalent for Google Workspace users.

Verdict
Sign up for Beautiful.ai if you present often, care how your decks look, and would rather give up layout freedom than spend evenings aligning boxes. Sales, consulting and founder decks are its sweet spot, and Team plans make sense for companies that want every deck on-brand without policing it. Do not sign up if you make a deck twice a year, need PowerPoint-level control, or rely on animations in exported files. Run one real deck through Create with AI during the trial, export it to PowerPoint, and judge both the design and the export before the card is charged.
Frequently asked questions
Is Beautiful.ai free?
No. There is a 14-day free trial of Pro or Team with full access, but it requires a credit card and charges you when the trial ends unless you cancel from Billing in your Profile. Students with a .edu email get a free year. Pro is $14.50 a month billed yearly at the time of writing.
Can Beautiful.ai export to PowerPoint?
Yes. Pro, Team and Enterprise plans export an editable PowerPoint file with speaker notes, and can also export to Google Slides, PDF and a static-image PowerPoint. Beautiful.ai's transitions and animations do not survive export, and you may need to install the deck's fonts.
What are Smart Slides?
Smart Slides are Beautiful.ai's layouts that automatically adjust spacing, alignment and hierarchy as you add or remove content. There are more than 300 of them for data, comparisons, timelines, quotes and image grids. You can convert a Smart Slide to a Classic Slide for free-form editing.
How does Beautiful.ai's AI generation work?
Click Create with AI, enter a prompt, paste an outline or attach files and links, edit the slide-by-slide outline it produces, choose a theme and image source, then click Generate Presentation. Afterwards, Slide AI regenerates or re-lays-out individual slides.
Is Beautiful.ai better than Gamma?
They differ in purpose. Beautiful.ai is stronger for traditional slide decks with strict design consistency and brand control. Gamma is faster and more flexible for documents, web pages and card-style decks. See our Gamma guide for a closer look.
Does Beautiful.ai work with PowerPoint?
Beyond export, there is a PowerPoint Add-In that lets you edit Beautiful.ai slides from inside PowerPoint and save them back, and you can import existing PowerPoint files to rebuild them in Beautiful.ai.
